Diagnostic Imaging

The Diagnostic Imaging and Radiology Service at Laguna Beach Veterinary Medical Center uses advanced imaging technologies such as digital radiography (x-ray) and ultrasound for the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment planning of diseases in pets.

Our digital x-rays are a quick and cost-effective way to see inside the pet’s body to determine cancer spread, tumors, organ size, bone injuries/fractures, hit-by-car injuries, ingestion of foreign objects and urinary stones and much more.

Our staff will prepare your pet for the necessary x-rays. We always try to position the pets gently to minimize stress and discomfort during procedure. Sometimes, a mild sedation/pain control may be required to relax your pet, but we will always inform you before administering it.

All digital x-rays are reviewed by a board-certified veterinary radiologist to ensure accuracy.

Ultrasound helps veterinarians to examine the internal organs of your pet in a painless manner with no known side effects. It can be used to uncover organ damage, deformities, or abnormalities to the heart, liver, stomach, intestines, kidneys, adrenal glands and other body organs.

Ultrasound can also be used for pregnancy exam of pets, but it has many other uses too. It can help to catch diseases and other health problems at early stages. This is important in helping your pet fight many diseases they may be afflicted with before the problem becomes serious issue.
